​This evaluation was performed by conducting a test on three similar corrugated metal specimens.  The specimens were approximately 12 inches square.  The metal specimens were 25 gauge.  One of the metal specimens was coated with Delcoat® one side.  The other metal specimen was coated with Delcoat® on both sides.  The third metal specimen was not coated and was used as the baseline sample.  The heat source for the test consisted of a 250 watt light bulb placed in a 12 by 12 inch open-face box.  Two identical heat sources were constructed for side by side testing of the specimens. The heat source was directed on the face of the metal specimens.  The heat source apparatus was placed an equal distance from the metal specimens.  Temperatures of the metal surface were taken prior to applying the heat source. The temperature of the metal was measured by using a digital reading temperature apparatus. 


A test was conducted on each of the coated specimens.  The first test was performed on the metal specimen with coating on one side and yielded the following results:

Summary


The test results indicate that the Delcoat® coating provides a significant reduction in heat transfer through metal when applied to the metal.  An 8 percent reduction of heat transfer was recorded on the back side of the metal when the specimen was coated on one side.  A 16 percent reduction of heat transfer was recorded on the back side of the metal when the specimen was coated on both sides.  The test results indicate that there would be a reduction of heat transfer through metal walls when Delcoat® is applied to the walls.
